This summer course is developed by the European Contrail project and VU University Amsterdam on Cloud Computing Technologies and will provide participants with the latest information on those technologies, interesting debates and lectures from various highly respected international experts to gain fresh knowledge on this constantly evolving topic.

Target group

The Cloud Summer School is designed for junior researchers in computer systems willing to expand their knowledge in the area of Cloud computing. Most students are expected to be master students, PhD students and postdocs willing to learn how a Cloud works internally, and how to use a Cloud to run their own applications.

Course aim

Introduce participants to emergent computing paradigms such as Grid computing and Cloud computing;
Provide lectures and practical courses on novel techniques to achieve scalability, elasticity, quality of service and security in Cloud systems;
Present IaaS and PaaS Cloud systems;
Provide a forum for participants to discuss their research work and share experience with experienced researchers.
