Be a music studio producer and create and record your own compositions!

This practical course will give you the opportunity to learn the skills of a modern music producer, allowing you to create and edit a music production.
You will be taken through the composition process using our music technology equipment.

In our industry standard facilities you will be introduced to the latest software and hardware used in the current music technology industry.

During the course you will gain experience in the following aspects of audio production:
- Recording chain
- Digital audio workstations
- Audio and MIDI sequencing
- Composition
- Recording technique
- Mixing skills

Target group

This course is ideal for enterprising students from all disciplines with an interest in the behind the scenes aspects of music.

You do not need to have experience of playing a musical instrument to take part!

Course aim

After studying this course you should be able to:
- Critically evaluate the use of technological and compositional processes.
- Review and evaluate the effectiveness of music technology and skills during the compositional and production process
- Produce high quality compositional content through the application of compositional techniques.
- Apply effective use of production and mixing skills in the creation of finished audio work.

10 UK Credit Points / 5 ECTS, Certificate of Attendance, and an official Transcript of Results.

Fee info

GBP 1200: Apply and pay your tuition fee by 30 April 2024 and receive our Early-Bird discount of £100. Tuition fee includes course materials, field trips, our exciting social and cultural programme, support from our friendly team of student buddies, use of our GSS Hub with free drinks, and a trip to the beautiful university city of Cambridge.
GBP 440: Accommodation in our on-campus student halls. All rooms are single with ensuite facilities and shared kitchen and living spaces. Halls are self-catered and kitchen and bedding packs will be provided. Our accommodation is right in the heart of the city and so there are lots of food shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and takeaways just a short walk away.

Scholarships

£100 Early-bird discount if tuition fee payment is received by 30 April 2024. A further discount is offered to groups of 10+ students travelling from the same University.
