AA Summer School

blended course
when 1 July 2024 - 19 July 2024
language English
duration 3 weeks
fee GBP 1560

The AA Summer School 2024 will explore architecture at play: moments when the discipline shows its sense of humour; experiments with content, style or format; breaks established rules; and enters the realms of folly and delirium. When done well, these moments can lead to radical innovation and progress. We are going to collect, explore and learn from architecture at play through a three-week programme in July 2024, in which units will set out from Bedford Square to investigate the playful examples London has to offer.

Course leader

Sofia Krimizi

Target group

The course is aimed at creative minds: prospective architectural students, current architectural students who would like to experience the learning environment at the AA; those who are considering a change of school; those who just completed school; individuals considering a change of career; and newcomers to architecture are all welcome to explore and innovate at the AA Summer School. +18 y.o. age requirement for all participants.

Course aim

The Summer School aims to build creative relationships between a diverse group of people who work together to investigate what architecture is, and what it can be – pushing the boundaries of architectural education beyond the established curriculum. We will experiment within the school and out in the city; we will use the AA’s facilities and academic resources; we will party, work, laugh and play. The Summer School enables progressive experimentation and freedom, both of which are central to the AA itself.
