Interactive Objects and Smart Textiles Summer Schools
Week one explores the subject of interactive objects and reactive, augmented materials. Now that electronic devices such as Arduino soft- and hardware have become so readily available, the FabLabs and Hackathons are gaining momentum. The result is that these tools are being adopted by artists and designers to make new and innovative work. This course will show you how.
Week two will introduce you to the world of smart textiles and how to create the wearable products of the future. You will learn about e-textile circuits and the different technologies currently available, in partnership with local manufacturer Kitronik.
These courses are led by the tutors from our fashion and product design departments.
These courses are valuable for designers and artists who are new to interactive design or smart textiles.
The aim is to experiment with materials to create useful, meaningful or aesthetic objects.
Upon successful completion you will receive a certificate of attendance. If you wish to receive credit you will need to arrange this with your faculty at home before you attend. NTU can supply module specifications to assist in calculating a credit equivalency.
GBP 625: The fee covers the tuition, most materials, course-related travel and accommodation on campus per week.
