The Summer School “The Civilian Personnel of Peace-keeping/Peace-building Operations and of Political Missions” has been set up at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna. The Summer School, which lasts 2 weeks, will take place between June 29 and July 10, 2015.

The Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna is responsible for the organization of the above mentioned course, under the patronage of the European Commission (Office for Italy), the UN (Information Centre for Italy), the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR), the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human rights (ODIHR), the Italian Foreign Ministry, and other public institutions.

English is the working language.

Target group

Applicants must have a University Degree, awarded after the completion of at least a triennial university course, or the equivalent of 3 years working experience in relevant fields. They must have a good working knowledge of English.
The Course is open to a maximum of 30 participants.

Course aim

Objective of the Course is to provide, through a post-graduate course, a limited number of applicants with the training required in order to operate on the field, as international officers, observers, experts and volunteers of international missions. The whole course has practical purposes and refers constantly to case studies. Many skills and abilities will be trained through diverse exercises which will include advanced role-playing, simulation sessions and project works. Field experience of trainers and participants will also constitute the subject of some classes expressly dedicated to this matter.

EUR 1: The cost includes tuition fee, reference material and lunch on class days.
Selected applicants may apply for the full or partial waiver of the tuition fee by motivating their request on their application form. Decisions in this regards are made by the Selection Commission.
Travelling and full board expenses (except lunch on class days) are to be paid by participants.
