Biodiversity Synthesis

when 23 August 2015 - 29 August 2015
duration 1 week

The German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv),
an international hub for biodiversity science, will organize its first
summer school Biodiversity Synthesis from 23 to 29 August 2015 in
Leipzig, Germany.

The summer school gives 20 young scientists the opportunity
to interact with the various biodiversity research groups at iDiv.
Mirroring our range of expertise, we will focus on a different scale
every day, starting from molecular level and finishing to ecosystems.

The programme will consist of keynote lectures, hands-on exercises,
discussions, excursions, participant presentations, as well as group
work around the theme of biodiversity synthesis. Excursions will be
organised to our biodiversity platforms and to interesting locations
around Leipzig!

The application deadline for the course is Sunday, 26 April 2015.

Course leader

The lead teacher of the summer school is Jonathan Chase, iDiv
Professor and leader of the research group in Biodiversity Synthesis.
Other lecturers will include senior scientific staff at iDiv, as well as
visiting speakers.

Target group

The summer school is aimed mainly at PhD students working on
biodiversity topics, but also applications from advanced master’s
level students and early-stage post-doctoral researchers will be
considered.
