The school would have the target to create highly specialized professionals in various branches of research and development of geothermal power production (geology, geochemistry, drilling engineers, reservoir engineering, geothermal power plant specialist) for peoples from East Africa, Kenia Etiopia, Tanzania, Comore, Malawi.
Funds for this derive from the Italian Ministry of Foreign affairs and International Cooperation.
The Summer School benefit of the collaboration with the Centre of Excellence for Geothermics of Larderello of COSVIG and Energea where Pisa University is one of the main partner. Larderello is an ideal location for a school of geothermics due to the presence of power plants, drillings rigs and a very active geothermal industry.

Target group

Students, technicians and officials from public administrations, universities and research centers from Eastern Africa (Comoros, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania e Uganda).
The selection of 14 participants will be made by University of Pisa, UNEP and by experts of Italian Agency of International Cooperation.
