Power of Citizen Journalism
Citizen Journalism course is an introduction to online journalism, citizen media and the use of social networks. During the course you will create websites, will produce videos, will take photographs, will play with the art of creating engaging narratives across platforms and learn to improve your communication to a wider audience.
The outcome of the course will be an experience such a narrative, spreading online and in the real world, that will be played at the end of the course.
The Internet has expanded the possibilities of creating and sharing media, it also allows to ordinary people to express their opinion. As these opinions can be read by millions of people worldwide, citizen journalism plays an increasingly important role, as it often adopts a different perspective from media professionals. During the course you will be expected to attend workshops and seminars, submit your work for peer review and create a self-defined project using any combination of media including video, photographs, illustrations and text as well as online tools such as blogs, wikis, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and any other reasonable tool the participant would like to use.
