The course is designed to familiarize students with the special characteristics of the maritime industry in general and the container shipping industry in particular. The goals of this course are to introduce the basic modes of transportation, with emphasis on sea/ocean transport, and their impact on trade and development, to help the student gain an understanding of the main players in the Maritime Logistics area, and to understand the specific competitive challenges faced by transport/logistics operators, shipping carriers, and ports.
