Where Law Meets Music, Meets Summer, Meets People

The Septfontaines Summer School of EU Law, co-organized by Maastricht University and AIR events asbl, brings together top-level EU law scholars as well as hands-on practitioners for an intense week of lectures and discussions around the Court of Justice of the EU in an exceptional setting. Participants will have the unique opportunity to engage with Judges, Advocates General and Référendaires and confront their insider perspectives with the more distant observation of the work of the Court by sociologists and legal scholars - all in a beatiful setting in an old abbey in the Champagne, France. In total, only 20 spots are available and the selection will be based upon the applications.

Target group

The Septfontaines Summer School of EU Law is aimed at students enrolled at a university, PhD researchers, junior researchers in general and young practitioners with a background and strong interest in EU law.

Course aim

The topic of this year's edition of the Septfontaines Summer School of EU Law will revolve around the role and functioning of the Court of Justice of the European Union. The multinational and pluridisciplinary faculty of the Septfontaines Summer School of EU Law will offer participants deep insights into the different facets of the work of the CJEU. EUR 1050: for one space in a double room.

This includes:
- accommodation in the beautiful Abbaye de Septfontaines en Bassigny (includes sheets and bedware)
- all meals (traditional French and Spanish breakfast, lunch and dinner)
- materials (reading and seminar materials)
- activities (guided tour to the Charles de Gaulle Memorial in Colombey-les-deux-églises; outdoor cinema; etc.)

Not included in the price are the additional snacks that can be bought at the abbey and drinks at the ‘Lama’ bar in the evening.

If you are admitted, do not forget to bring your music instruments for jam sessions, sports or art material for the time after the long hours of debates and workshops each day.
