The course will guide you through visual research, introduce you to examples of current jewellery, and help you to develop your own design ideas. You will learn a range of fundamental making processes, including piercing, joining, forming and texturing to enable you to design and make a piece of jewellery to take away with you.

Week One

You will be introduced to design processes that encourage your individuality and creativity, learning how to document research and develop a design process. This will include drawing and sketch modelling.

Alongside this you will participate in various fundamental workshop processes, which begin to develop your condence in making in metal.

You will also have a research visit to London to see the jewellery collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

Week Two

You will develop your initial ideas to create individual designs that can be explored and defined in a focused design for a piece of jewellery.

This will take place alongside workshop processes, which will enable you to combine materials, precious and nonprecious, and produce final ideas in three dimensions.

Week Three

In the workshops you will realise your final design idea, with support from a tutor. The final pieces from each student will be celebrated in an exhibition before the work is added to your professional portfolio.
