Teaching English with a Media Toolbox and Web-based Technologies

when 5 August 2019 - 16 August 2019
language English
duration 2 weeks
credits 5 ECTS

In a globalized world, communication has become essential and so have innovative teaching methods. Pupils use media for communication in their everyday lives – now it is time for teachers to take advantage of the pupils’ skills and use a media toolbox and web-based technologies to teach process-based spoken and written English.

This course offers an opportunity to acquire knowledge about the possibilities of using technologies in English, as well as a hands-on approach. An important part of the course is to become familiar with the use of technology and combine it with methodological and didactic approaches within language teaching. The latest theory and practice go hand in hand and are thus core components of this course. As an important practice aspect of this course, the content learned at campus will be implemented in short teaching sequences by the summer school participants in a local public school.

The course will introduce the participants to a range of technological tools from a media toolbox that can be applied when teaching English in a new, innovative and motivating way. The focus will be on process-based approaches to both spoken and written English as a second or foreign language.
