Engineering – Experimental Fluid Mechanics
Only on campus: the course will only be offered if physical presence on campus is possible; otherwise it will be cancelled.
This course introduces methods and techniques for measurement and data analysis in experimental fluid mechanics, Students will learn to conduct aerodynamics performance test of airfoil in both wind tunnel and water tunnel.
The obtained knowledge will be applied in a design process for aerodynamic devices for wind turbine blades. Performance test for add-ons (e.g. vortex generators) to change the flow separation on the blades will be examined. The potential increase in efficiency will be evaluated with reference to a clean airfoil.
