Telecommunication Technology – Produce your own Mobile Phone
Students will actually produce their own fully functional mobile phone, including custom made circuit board, software and shell (casing).
Students will be introduced to – and understand the technical components of the GSM network as a whole.
Further, they will learn and practice skills in practical electronic tasks, such as configuration of circuit boards and soldering IC components onto it.
The code that makes the IC hardware work will be understood and coded into the components of the circuit board.
Also the use of 3D designing software will be learned and practiced, as well as the use of 3D printing software and hardware technology. The result is a – simple but – fully functional GSM mobile phone! With the finished product, students will be introduced to methods and tasks of mobile forensics, thereby understanding what kind of data is stored on a mobile phone when in use, and how this data can be retrieved and used. This allows e.g. to learn who, when and how the user contacted someone else, and thus understand the advantages and risks of using a mobile phone.
The result is complete understanding of the single components of a GSM Handset, and a deep experience by actually confectioning and manufacturing a mobile handset with your own hand
