This course will be given online.
Stay home. Learn together.
The Digital Cities Action Line leverages digital transformation through centralised, participative and collaborative interactions between city actors: government, city service providers, industry, and citizens. This transformation enables the deployment of disruptive information, mobility and safety services in the cities. Moreover, citizens are also active actors of the digital transformation of cities. Their empowerment through ideas and participation in local life helps create new programs and tools which can be helpful to the whole community. Digital transformation in cities is truly driven by the collaboration between the different actors: governments, citizens, companies and entrepreneurs. A multidisciplinary approach including service design, urbanism, and social sciences is used to provide an accurate understanding of the concrete problems that cities are facing, and the means to overcome these, in particular by developing sustainable business models.
Predictive analytics have a large role in the digital transformation of cities. Within cities, predictive analytics play a role in many different domains such a citizen participation, city resilience, prevention of pollution, managing risks, public transportation and private mobility, telecommunication infrastructure, security, urban logistics, social WiFi, tourism, traffic management, etc. Predictive analytics are one way to shape data into meaningful decisions. It uses data analytics to make predictions and generate strategic, operational assets. Public authorities and private companies can benefit from these insights and provide better services to citizens. The Summer School program will focus on the opportunities which data analytics can create for cities, citizens, and entrepreneurs in a wide range of user applications.
