An intensive three-week studio-based programme that introduces students to Dutch culture, the Minerva Art Academy community along with its facilities, and the Dutch approach to art education. You will have access to a range of different tutors, facilities and technical workshops, art classes, group discussions, presentations and lectures, as well as excursions.

In the first week of the academic programme, you will be introduced to each other and each other's work, to Dutch art and design, to the technical workshops and to some highlights Dutch museums have to offer in an excursion to one of the major Dutch cities.
The second week focuses on the studio. You will primarily work in your shared studio space, mainly independently. There will be theory lectures and technical instruction in the workshops. Also, you will go on a tour through Groningen and experience the local art scene.
In the third week, you will work towards a presentation of all work you made during the course.

Course leader

Studio-based summer course in a vibrant cultural student city with excursions to cultural institutions such as the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and museum of photography FOAM.

Target group

The course is meant for students admitted to and about to start the Design or Fine Art bachelor programme at Minerva Art Academy, or for first-year students already studying Art at one of our partner universities.

Course aim

Those planning on studying a bachelor programme Design or Fine Art at Minerva will be well prepared for a successful start. Students from partner universities will have a different perspective to art and will have an unforgettable international experience that will enrich them as an artist.
