Clinical Radiation Therapy
Radiation therapy (Radiotherapy) is a very central treatment modality in the treatment of cancer, and it is estimated that half of all cancer patients will need radiation treatment during their cancer course. However, radiation therapy takes up only a small part of the teaching of medical students, both in Denmark and in the rest of Europe.
The Summer School will mainly focus on an introduction to radiobiology / physics and the treatment of three different patient groups, where radiation therapy plays a very central role, namely head and neck cancer, breast cancer and rectal/anal cancer. We do not try to cover all cancers that are treated with radiation therapy, but will provide the opportunity to dive into selected topics and disease groups within radiation therapy and draw general principles from it.
