Managing Sustainability in Supply Chains
online courseThe purpose of this course is to provide students with a strong conceptual foundation in the operational and decision-making areas that are vital for managing sustainability issues in supply chains (SCs). The course enables the students to understand, evaluate, and use their role as effective supply chain managers in making supply chain operations environment-friendly. In particular, the students get a comprehensive knowledge of vital antecedents and drives, green practices, international regulations (e.g., environmental management system ISO 14000, sustainable procurement ISO 24000), and operational strategies implemented by the supply chain partners (both internal and external) in achieving sustainability objectives and targets. Further, the course investigates procurement decisions, operational processes, etc. to provide broad knowledge about managing sustainability challenges and their practical consequences in SCs. By developing these insights, the course offers a detailed understanding of why sustainability targets in geographically dispersed global supply chains is a complicated exercise.
