During the 5-day course, you will learn about the ethical and practical issues of interpreter-mediated communication in the public sector. You will be introduced to different techniques and strategies that are most useful in public interpreting contexts (legal, asylum-seeking and medical settings).

Course leader

Jekaterina Maadla (MA in Conference Interpreting) has worked for the President and the Prime Minister of Estonia and mediated several intergovernmental negotiations.

Target group

The participant should have a good knowledge of English, an interest in the quality of interpreter-mediated communication as well as a readiness to take part in practical tasks (role-play).

Course aim

Students will receive guidance for developing main interpreting skills of active listening, analysing, processing and reformulation and will know the difference between different modes, types and methods of interpreting in various settings.

EUR 200: Eary-Bird fee until 31 March 2022.
EUR 250: Regular fee after 31 March 2022. Accommodation and meals are not included.
