Translational Psychobiology
With estimated 450 million people suffering from psychiatric disorders worldwide, the understanding of the neurobiology of psychological phenomena, mechanisms leading to psychiatric illnesses, and principles of their treatment have become a top medical and societal priority. This course aims to prepare bachelor’s level students to pursue careers in medicine, psychology, and neuroscience, and especially boost their interest in applying findings from animal models to the understanding and research of human psychology. Although focusing on the neurobiological roots of psychological phenomena, the course will also provide ample historical and art perspective on psychiatric disorders.
