Exploring the Biomechanics of Rowing - Simulation and Measurement

when 17 July 2023 - 28 July 2023
language English
duration 2 weeks
credits 5 EC
fee EUR 740

In this summer school programme you will develop a biomechanical model for the motion of a rower. First, a kinematic model is created with Computer Aided Design. Furthermore, you analyze the movement of an athlete using motion capturing and transfer the resulting data to a biomechanical simulation. The motion data is used as input parameter for a digital twin of a sports rowing boat. The model is supplemented by actual measured values on a training device, which are determined by sensors and measurement technology. The digital twin is further improved through tests on a real rowing boat.

The summer school programme consists of a two week on campus phase in Nuremberg in July 2023 and a preceding online-phase (onboarding-meeting and provision of material).

Participants can participate in a varied cultural and social programme together with the partcipants from all summer school programmes offered within the OHM International Summer School.
