Communicating Your (Scientific) Ideas – Meeting With the Editor
This course is a part of a 5-day PhD Summer School programme
This training, tailored for doctoral candidates and postdocs, centers around the skill of ‘articulating your scientific ideas.’ As scholars and practitioners, we engage in teaching and publishing. Verbal communication allows for immediate interaction, while written communication involves interaction ‘with a delay.’ In both instances, the essential goal is to effectively convey your message as the sender and comprehend the messages from others as the receiver. When publishing in scientific journals, you, the author, act as the sender, and the editor serves as the receiver. In this training session the emphasis will be on queries such as: What motivates you to publish your findings? What is the ideal journal for sharing your results? How do you go about publishing in a (Web-of-Science) journal? And how does the editorial review process work?
