The Art of Logical Thinking
This course emphasizes reasoning skills. Students will be introduced to formal and informal logic, including syllogisms, inductive and deductive arguments, and those fallacies most commonly encountered in speech and writing.

Target group
Philosophy, math, linguistics, and general undergraduate students wishing to improve their knowledge of introductory logic. Course includes both formal and symbolic logic
Course aim
Students will:
A. Know and apply the vocabulary of logic;
B. Identify and explain major informal fallacies;
C. Identify arguments (both inductive and deductive), premises and conclusions;
D. Analyze and diagram arguments;
E. Be able to translate ordinary language into symbolic notation;
F. Be able to evaluate both formal and informal arguments; and
G. Construct formal proofs and test arguments for validity.
