In Transition to a Pure Green Energy Economy

The International Summer University is a short term program taught in English dealing with the prospects of an energy system and a whole economy relying solely on renewable energy. It especially focuses on the challenge of transforming supply, demand and business. Scientific knowledge will be enhanced by practical learning with hands-on experiences during academic excursions and company visits.

The program combines academic seminars and German-as-a-foreign-language courses with cultural learning and lots of activities outside the classroom, e.g. daytrips to Ruedesheim and Heidelberg, climbing park, summer BBQ, retro-games night, etc. Students will spend an unforgettable summer at one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Germany and meet new friends from Germany and from all around the world.

Target group

The academic program is suitable for students from a variety of backgrounds, e.g. Business Administration, Energy Management, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or related disciplines.

Course aim

Professors from the Department of Business will give the students a scientific background on the Transition to a Pure Green Energy Economy and the challenges which come along with it. Students will gain hands-on experience during field trips to different companies. Discussions and the exchange of ideas and knowledge with professors, research associates and other participants during and after classes will enhance the personal experience and bring best benefits to all participants.

3 ECTS will be awarded for participating in the German language courses

6 ECTS will be awarded for the participating in the academic program

Fee info

EUR 1990: For all applications received until March 15, 2022 an “early-bird discount” will be granted and the fee will be reduced to 1.790 €. This fee includes: accommodation in a hotel (single room) in Darmstadt, a three-week study program including the lecture material, company visits and a 4-day academic excursion to Berlin, a German language course (including lecture material), the cultural and leisure program as well as a ticket for public transportation within Darmstadt, and a health, accident, and liability insurance.

Scholarships

Some of the partner universities of Hochschule Darmstadt made special agreements for the International Summer University and it might be possible to get a fee reduction. Please ask your International Office for information.
