Risk is an integral part of life. We take, perceive, ignore and experience risks every day. The Utrecht University Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences (IRAS) investigates risks to human health. Our research focuses on risks related to chemical, biological, and physical agents in the environment, the work place and the food chain. During this two-week residential summer school students will be introduced to the three approaches used in risk assessment: exposure assessment, toxicology (the science of poisons) and epidemiology (the science of public health).
