Intensive French courses
During the summer holidays, the Cours de vacances offers intensive French courses for non-French speakers (3 sessions of 3 weeks and 2 sessions of 6 weeks for the complete beginners).
Our courses are open to every person willing to learn French. This means that we welcome students, professors, and people who live in Lausanne and need to learn French for their daily life. No qualification is required to follow the courses but students must be over 17 years old.
The Cours de vacances offers a Principal Programme that takes place every morning. Students can choose a practical course (from level A1), a special course for complete beginners (A0) or an introduction to academic texts (from level B1). The level of the student is assessed by the assesment test of the Cours de vacances that is passed on the first day of each session of courses.
The Cours de vacances also offers a Mutual Teaching in Context programme which allows students to obtain a Certificate of Qualification in French with the student’s level according to the CEFR which allows, from level B1 to enrol in UNIL. With this programme it is also possible to obtain 5 or 10 ECTS credits.
Each student receives an attendance attestation at the end of the course mentionning the number of hours and the level of the attended course.
Students enrolled in the Mutual Teaching in Context programme receive ECTS credits and a Certificate of Qualification in French. This certificate is delivered to students who have fullfilled the conditions for obtaining it. The grade and the level according to the CEFR are mentioned on the certificate. The student is assessed by the teacher throughout the programme, and also by an expert during the final assesment which is composed of a linguistic ability test and an oral examination during which the student presents the portofolio he/she has compiled.
