The programme will cover three principal areas of study:

- Physical domain: lagoon drivers: tides, waves, sediment, rise in sea level
- Living domain: lagoon ecosystem functions and services, water quality, ecological risk assessment
- Economic domain: Maritime law, environmental law conventions, harbour operations and port services, economical issues in port management and related problems

Target group

Reference level starts with students at the end of Bachelor programs with basic knowledge of physics and mathematical principles. Students in Economics, Management, Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Natural Sciences, Geosciences are encouraged to participate, but otherwise the course is open to students from all backgrounds and subjects.

Course aim

To provide the student with insights in:
- Lagoon environment morpho-dynamics and the main driving processes
- Physical, ecological and human interactions in coastal lagoons;
- Economical and management challenges related to the Venetian port and lagoon.
