Introduction to Probability Theory
The course consists of 6 meetings (3 lectures and 3 tutorials). In each of the 3 days of the course, there will be a lecture (morning) and a tutorial meeting (afternoon). In between the two, the students are expected to work on a problem set provided by the tutor after the morning lecture. The problem sets will contain both problems and theoretical exercises. The students are encouraged to work in groups.
– Lectures: During each lecture a new topic will be discussed. The lecturer will provide an overview of the corresponding theory, and will present some examples.
– Tutorial meetings: Tutorials are scheduled immediately after the lectures. The students are expected to have solved the corresponding problem set before each tutorial. The solutions will be discussed during the tutorial meeting. Moreover, students will have time to ask questions, both about the theory as well as about the problem set.
