Academic Courses in Theology

when 24 June 2018 - 11 August 2018
language English
duration 7 weeks
fee GBP 3895

Theology attempts to answer some of the biggest religious questions that face, and have faced mankind, for millennia. Indeed, Oxford has taught Theology for almost that long; it is the oldest established subject at the University. Even today Oxford leads the way in many areas of Theology, especially in the study of the Christian Faith. Many of the greatest theologians of the last decades have taught or studied here at Oxford.

We can’t provide you with answers to questions about the existence of God, but we can point you to those fine minds that have attempted to tackle them in the past. The course provides an introduction to the basis of the Christian religion and the texts that informed its earliest development, looking at how their interpretation has changed over time, reflecting the societies that have grown up alongside them. The course also offers an opportunity to study other religious doctrines, and we welcome people from diverse backgrounds to study in a multicultural environment.
