language English
duration 1 week
credits 2 ECTS

Anxiety disorders and depression are among the most common mental illnesses in the world, putting a high burden on individual well-being as well as society. Clinical psychologists in the field constantly come across psychological problems related to depression and anxiety, and a sound understanding of these forms of psychopathology is crucial for any aspiring clinical psychologist.

This unique Radboud Summer School will provide you with hands-on experience with common evidence-based interventions for the treatment of anxiety and depression, including exposure, behavioural activation, mindfulness, imagery rescripting, worry training, and cognitive restructuring. These interventions will be introduced in light of cutting edge theoretical insights, presented by theoretical pioneers in the field. Techniques will be taught and guided by renowned clinical experts.

Furthermore, innovative paradigms and techniques that are currently under development (such as Cognitive Bias Modification, Cognitive Control Training, Memory Specificity Training, and gamified prevention programs) and which aim to inform and augment treatment and research will be presented along with current challenges in clinical practice.

If you are a student or researcher with a background in psychology who wants to enhance their practical skills and theoretical knowledge of anxiety and depression disorders, this- course is for you! It can even help prepare you for a future career in clinical psychology, and will help shape you into a scientist- practitioner.
The course will be provided in collaboration with expert clinicians and theorists from, for example, the Radboud University, Pro Persona (Institute and expertise centre for mental health care), the Radboud University Medical Centre, and the KU Leuven.
