Students from all over the world, attending accredited universities, are invited to participate in an exciting and demanding nine week long Summer Curriculum: "Digital Media" This program covers subject matter ranging from history and analysis of Media Technology, Media Management, Media Ethics, Media Theory and Communication Sciences to Media Informatics and Human Computer Interaction. The program finishes with a four-week internship at a German media company.

Target group

The MSC program is open to qualified and motivated students with an avid interest in new media and in German culture, language and life. With a minimum of sophomore standing at the inception of the program, students from various majors such as Journalism, Mass Communication, Radio/Television/Film, Broadcasting, Business, Electronic Media and Digital Design are invited to apply. The language of instruction is English. The curriculum is framed by "survival" German language instruction and highlighted by visits to Berlin and Salzburg, to museums, castles, theaters and a hike in the magnificent Alps.

Course aim

This course provides students with extensive knowledge on theories and concepts frequently employed in the field of journalism, media and communication research. With an understanding of the interplay between media institutions, communication professionals, and audiences, students are encouraged to critically question the issues at stake.
By the end of the course, students will have gained a thorough understanding of media in the German context and beyond. Furthermore, they will be equipped to undertake a content analysis.

Students can earn up to 6 US semester credits (12 ECTS credits) while attending the MSC, provided that the curriculum is approved by the student’s home institution.
