Black Holes and Stellar Explosions

About

Black holes are the most extreme objects in nature. They form when stars die catastrophically, through collapse or through a supernova explosion, or when two neutron stars merge. How does this happen? What physics is involved? How do we observe them? This course provides a comprehensive introduction to astrophysical black holes and related explosions.

Course leader

Prof G.A. Gijs Neleman and Prof A.J. Andrew Levan

Target group

Bachelor, Advanced Bachelor, Master, PHD, Postdoc.

Admission requirements
Bachelor in Physics/Astronomy (or last year BA student).

Course aim
