Cosmic physics joins many modern scientific branches. It includes geophysics, space physics, theoretical physics and applied science. In broader sense it studies the interactions of the Earth's interior and surface, the seas, the atmosphere an the outer space. This workshop is for those who like physics and want to find ways to learn what is happening above or beneath us. We will try to understand methods of today's science, see the beauty of learning and discovering in science and understand what can possibly be done in the time of your life in the field of nature and space exploration. We will discuss, invent, compute and dream.
The course will cover following topics: What is the outer space and where it begins: The atmosphere, magnetosphere. What do we know about Earth's interior and about other planets? Structure of the known Universe, gravity waves. Solar System. What is plasma, solar wind and solar cycles? Kristian Birkeland. How are Auroras formed and how are they related to Space Weather and why should we care about all this stuff. From Sputnik and Venera to Apollo, Voyager and New Horizon.
