Human-centered design is a methodology that places the user at the heart of the design process. In an increasingly digital world, prioritizing human-centric design enhances usability and contributes to the overall well-being and inclusivity of society.
This course is designed to equip you with essential skills for understanding user experience and incorporating it into design projects. The Human-Centred User Experience Design course offers a foundational understanding of the human-centred design process, specifically in creating digital services.
Workshops and lectures emphasise the importance of human-centred design, equipping students with essential skills in user interface and user experience design. This includes understanding and specifying the context of use, specifying the user requirements, producing design solutions, and evaluating the design.
Antony Joseph is a post-doctoral researcher in Human-Centred Design in the Department of Design at Aalto University. He holds a PhD degree in HCI from Madurai Kamaraj University, India and has worked over 18 years at the National Institute of Design (NID) in India. He is one of the founding members of the master's degree program (M. Des) Digital Game Design at NID Bengaluru Campus. During his career at NID, he worked on several nationally importance digital design projects. Antony’s research interests are human-centred design, human-automation interaction, employee well-being and meaningfulness of work. His current research work focuses on human-automation interaction and the future of work with AI/autonomous systems. He is dedicated to fostering a culture of empathy in creating human-centric solutions.
This course does not require previous experience in the topic.
To succeed in the course, the student should be able to effectively engage in teaching and learning activities in English.
Additionally, all summer school course students must be 18 years or older, as it is the legal age in Finland.
