International German SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) – Sustainability in Business and Technology

The Summer University Lingen (SUL) takes a look at the backbone of Germany’s economy: family-owned, medium-sized companies, the so-called "Mittelstand". The goal of the programme is to analyse the key success factors of those "Mittelstand" companies, to gain insight into their operations and management features and to see how they implement sustainability measures. A unique feature of the SUL is the practical aspect: you will visit small and medium-sized as well as family-owned companies in order to directly apply what you have learned in class. You will thus gain comprehensive insight into the regional, international and global procedures of companies in Germany, the city of Lingen and its surrounding area. The two-week programme is taught in English and is open to German and international students currently enrolled in a degree programme. Various activities, cultural events and a weekend trip to Berlin complete this programme.

The SUL is offered by the Faculty of Management, Culture and Technology at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences located in the city of Lingen.

Target group

The programme is open to German and international Bachelor's and Master's students from any study programme. You need be enrolled at your home university for the duration of the programme. You should be interested in the overall topic of business and management and be willing to participate in group work with other international students. No prerequisites in the field of business are required to attend our programme.
