Violence & Justice: From Nuremberg Trials to Present Day

This course embraces the international contexts of Human Rights, its principles and values as well as the effectiveness of existing global and regional Human Rights mechanisms.

Course leader

Eva Rivera, rned her Ph.D. in International Law from Charles University as well as a Law degree from Friedrich Alexander University, Erlangen-Nurnberg. A lawyer, mediator and linguist she has spent 11 years in Puerto Rico/U.S.

Target group

High School Graduates, University Students. GSSP welcomes university students, high school students, and non-student audiences as well, but the minimum age requirement for the GSSP is 18.

Course aim

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to: Analyse the current position of China in the world order, as a global power and a regional power in terms of its economic, political, military and cultural influence Describe the main historical events that shape China’s self-perception and influence its domestic and foreign policy today Analyse how China’s determining features such as its economy, population size, geography and culture impact its behaviour and policy formation Assess China’s main strengths and weaknesses as an actor of international relations as well as on the domestic front, identify the short-term and long-term threats Describe China’s foreign policy and its diplomatic relations with the global powers and with its neighbours Argue their opinion on China’s development in the future.
