The King's Online Pre-University Winter School is an initial step into the world of Higher Education for high school students. Designed primarily for students aged 15-17, who will be soon making decisions around university, this one-week programme is an intensive introduction to undergraduate level study, allowing students to explore different subjects within a wider academic discipline, and make informed choices about their options beyond compulsory education.

The programme offers four streams, spanning teaching from most of King’s faculties and schools. Choosing one of the following courses for the duration of the programme, you’ll be able to sample various subjects within that discipline, gain insight into how it’s taught at undergraduate level, start to develop skills and competencies needed for success at university, and build confidence ahead of further study.

Target group

The King's College London Online Pre-University Winter School is open to high-achieving aged 15+ who will soon be making decisions around university, and are typically aged 15 to 17. Students must be aged 15 as of 15 February 2021.

Course aim

The one-week programme aims to:
- provide an insight into the skills and competencies needed for success at university​
- help you make informed decisions about future study options and build confidence for university applications​
- develop your critical thinking, independence and interdisciplinary approaches to learning​
- introduce you to the global impact and relevance of King's research
