Our lectures and workshops in this Summer School will introduce you to various fascinating topics about stem cell biology, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

Our Summer School shall be mainly based in Cardiff University's School of Dentistry which is based in the third largest University hospital in the UK! It’s also the only dental school in Wales which provides unique and important leadership in dental research, teaching and patient care.

The academic programme consists of a series of lectures that will introduce you to topics such as:

• Stem cell biology
• Regenerative medicine
• Tissue engineering
• Nanotechnology
• Biomaterials
• Immunology
• Molecular biology

Plus, current clinical applications of stem-cell-based therapy in these areas in Cardiff.

You’ll also get a hands-on laboratory practical in stem cell biology as part of this Summer School which provides training in many widely employed laboratory techniques in biomedicine including stem cell maintenance, proliferation and differentiation, and gain practical skills of biomaterials design and development.

Undergraduate students, recent graduates or those with relevant work experience (18 years old and above).

Course aim

Our Summer School programme is designed to provide you with an introduction to biomedical and biological research and the crucial role it has to play in developing solutions to modern-day challenges on health care, climate and global resources.

In addition to a valuable learning experience, you will embark on two cultural trips within Wales. Both Wales and the UK are uniquely rich in history, architecture and culture and our Summer Schools are sure to give you unrivalled personal, social and academic benefits which will enhance any CV or resume.

Fee info

GBP 1995: This fee includes tuition fees, accommodation (14 nights), 10 meals per week (Breakfast and lunch Monday – Friday), airport pick up and drop off from London Heathrow Airport on fixed dates (pick up is on the 11 July and drop off is 25 July) and excursions organised by Cardiff University (such as Tenby and the Big Pit).
