Surgical Robotics

blended course
when 18 July 2021 - 24 July 2021
language English
duration 1 week
credits 1.5 EC
fee USD 1500

The purpose of this seminar is to provide an overview of the current technology used in surgical robotics and smart surgical instruments. We will study the theoretical foundation of kinematics, mechanics, control, and navigation required for the understanding and development of robots. We will teach a state-of-the-art methodology for robot kinematic analysis, based on screw theory which addresses the issues of conventional methodologies. Theoretical learnings will be coupled with hands-on sessions that use Matlab, combining tailored scripts created for the purposes of the module with the use of Matlab’s Robotics Toolbox.
