The course covers various aspects of legacies of slavery in different continents in both space and time. The course provides a general introduction to literary and cultural studies on the topic of slavery and memories of slavery in the context of global human rights discourses. The course will analyse this topic by focusing on an array of sources dealing with slavery in Africa, America and Europe. It also includes an introduction to central approaches within anthropology on contemporary legacies of slavery and anti-slavery.
