Applied Cryogenics and Superconductivity

when 14 August 2022 - 23 August 2022
language English
duration 2 weeks
credits 2 EC
fee EUR 775

In this course, you will learn the properties of materials at low temperatures and the engineering properties of superconducting conductors. We will discuss the basic operation of cryocoolers and superconducting systems. The lectures will be intertwined with practical sessions on low temperature experimental techniques, among others, two-phase boiling curve measurement and critical current measurement of the superconducting materials.

Course leader

Dr. Srini Vanapalli - Associate Professor
Dr. Anna Kario - Assistant Professor

Target group

This course is suitable for BSc students with a background in either mechanical engineering, (applied) physics or electrical engineering, who have a special interest in low temperature science and technology.
