Who Cares? – A Manual for Practices of Care
The Laboratory / AA Visiting School Stuttgart, is a cross-disciplinary initiative of the AA School, London, at the ABK Stuttgart that brings together architects, artists, designers and researchers to speculate about our life in the future – putting the responsibility for our future back into our own court. Can architecture / architects safe the world?
Course leader
Marianne Mueller and Chrissie Muhr
Target group
The workshop is open to current architecture and design students, recent graduates and young professionals. A fluency in English is required, as this will be the communication language. Software Requirements: Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino or Sketchup, CAD, PowerPoint.
Course aim
This workshop examines past, contemporary and future practice of care. It explores and develops decisions and actions to “take care” – from the architectural to the planetary scale.
This year we will produce a manual: we will translate factual knowledge of “harm” into future stories of “care”. Working through different chapters and aspects, we will dismantle the existing “world of hurt” and rebuild it anew – from an individual, community, cultural point of view to systemic or planetary issues of care.
