In a world where China’s ascendancy reshapes the global tapestry, understanding its legal system is pivotal for navigating the intricacies of international diplomacy, trade, and governance. The Durham-ECLS-EALSC Summer Academy for Global China offers an in-depth exploration of China's legal system, its global implications, and the country's development trajectory within a transnational context. Hosted by Durham University's Centre for Chinese Law and Policy, in collaboration with the European China Law Studies Association and the East Asian Legal Studies Center at the University of Wisconsin Law School, this one-week program is designed for students and professionals keen to understand the nuances of Chinese law and its international relationships. Participants will engage with leading scholars and practitioners through lectures, workshops, and cultural activities in the historic city of Durham.

Course aim

For students, the program is equivalent to 2 ECTS credits. Participants are encouraged to consult with their home institution to facilitate credit recognition. Durham Law School will provide certificates and necessary documentation to support the credit transfer process.

Fee info

GBP 700: GBP 700 for students from other universities. This fee covers all course materials, sessions, and event attendance including morning and afternoon refreshments, lunch, tea/coffee. The fee also covers a formal dinner in the majestic Great Hall at Hatfield College, the second oldest college of Durham University, established in 1846.
