The Summer School starts from the awareness of the value of the Massaciuccoli Lake (Massarosa, Lucca) and its territory. As main element of characterization and unification of the micro-sites along its coasts, the Massaciuccoli Lake is the central theme of the Summer School 2017. The aim is to redesign the natural, archaeological and anthropic contexts, neighboring with a still partially untouched natural environment. Through a systemic vision that takes into account the environmental, physical, historical, cultural and socio-economic aspects, students will develop four main themes: the marina and the new Lipu headquarters (currently housing a museum), the lake nature trails with the design of new birdwatching sights, the connection and redevelopment of the areas of the Roman Villa of Venulei and the Niquila stone quarries.
