Energy Performance of Buildings & Districts
In this Summer School, you explore the energy efficiency of buildings on a micro-level, and consider districts on a macro-level. You learn about building performance simulation and district supply systems.
You master the fundamentals of modeling and simulation to carry out dynamic building simulations. Apply your knowledge in a practical manner: Work on a case study featuring energy efficient technology. Succeed in a business simulation game on energy trading and power plant management.
This course is highly interactive and contain a lot of intensive and fun teamwork. Get an insight into Energy Performance of Buildings & Districts with the following hands-on topics:
✓ Lectures & tutorials
✓ Dynamic building simulations
✓ Plant operation simulations
✓ Micro- and macro level understanding
✓ Intercultural exchange & social events
Registrations are open now! Apply before April 1!
The Short course is jointly conducted by the e3D, EBC and the iPE. All three Institutes are part of the RWTH University and are integrated in the SmartQuart Project which is the center of this Summer School.
Every year we welcome students from all over the world. You can become part of our international student community if you:
- are at least 18 years old
- in your Bachelor's, Master's, in between or recently graduated
- are proficient in the English language
Desirable is basic understanding of power generation and power systems, electrochemical systems or electricity systems and its components.
Please note: Interested students should be studying electrical engineering and show strong interests in sustainable technology, especially in the context of energy and buildings. Basic skills in any discipline with a strong focus on energy are beneficial.
No English certificate is required. Our courses are all in English and therefore a proficient knowledge of English is important.
A district from the living lab project SmartQuart serves as a use case. SmartQuarts core technological element is the exchange of energy and intelligent networking within and between the smart districts.
