Amsterdam has a dynamic present in which art, culture and nightlife play a major role. The city also has a rich past, which brought forward ideas with a global impact even today. This course addresses the past and present aspects of the city, and focusses on themes such as Amsterdam in the Dutch Golden Age, and the Amsterdam mentality (values, successes, rise and growth).

Undergraduate students, with intermediate level English.

Course aim

This course pays attention to various aspects of Amsterdam as it was, and how it is now. Besides developments in Amsterdam there will be regular attention to similar situations in the countries of origin of the participating students.
