In the Summer of 2023, Prof. Felix Hardmood Beck, in collaboration with Dr. Sue Rossano Rivero, will host an exciting summer school at the University of Applied Sciences Münster: A two-week course packed with learnings on design, technology, and innovation. A roving course, designed to be flexible and held at different locations throughout its duration from August 21 to September 01, 2023.

The course underscores societal challenges and driving sustainable development, preparing students for a technology-driven world. By understanding the process and impact of innovation, students will be equipped to become change-makers in the future.


Through hands-on workshops, interesting lectures, demonstrations and presentations, as well as excursions to several relating sites, students will gain practical skills and deep insights into the intricate relationships between design, technology, and innovation. The course explores current trends and potential future trajectories, emphasizing the interconnectedness, and to highlight the synergy between these fields, offering a comprehensive learning experience throughout multiple sites in the beautiful Münsterland (North Rhine-Westfalia, Germany).

Part of the summer school is also a three day sustainability camp, called CampX.

As this is a funded project, there are no costs/participation fees for taking part in the course. However, participants must arrange their own accommodation and transport, as well as pay on their own for exhibition tickets, workshop materials, food and drinks, etc.. However, these costs will not be more than approx. 120-150 EUR.


To take part in the CampX, participants have to pay 20 EUR.

Course aim

This Summer School fosters a multifaceted understanding of the interconnected disciplines of design, technology and innovation, laying a robust foundation for those aspiring to excel in an increasingly interconnected and technology-centric world. This comprehensive approach ensures that students are well-prepared to navigate and contribute to their evolving landscapes.
The course specifically covers the field of 'Entrepreneurial Education' and will give the students an overview of various innovative fields of work and a wide range of opportunities in rural areas, thereby contributing to the long-term preservation of the economic structure of the Münsterland.
