ALGAR: Semi-global fields and their valuations

About

In 2026, the ALGAR summer school will be dedicated to semi-global fields and their spaces of valuations. Some familiarity with basic valuation theory will be assumed. The lectures will be accompanied by exercise sessions and a couple of research talks.

Target group

The summer school is tailored specifically for master students and PhD students, but also advanced bachelor students and post-docs are welcome.

Participants should have a basic understanding of number theory, algebraic geometry and/or quadratic form theory.

Course aim

The student acquires insight into a vibrant research area within fundamental mathematics.
The student learns modern concepts and methods from algebra and algebraic geometry involved in recent results of an area of modern research in alebra and number theory.

The tuition fee includes course material, coffee breaks, social activities and a conference dinner. It does not include travel and accommodation.
