Edith Stein Summer Academy: Turmoil, Change, Courage

About

The Summer Academy aims to discuss fundamental questions of Christian life from an academic perspective. This year, the focus will be on upheaval, change and courage. The Summer Academy is primarily aimed at young people under the age of 35, but is also open to participants outside this age group. Due to limited capacity, young people will be given priority.

Themes:

The Summer Academy will cover the following topics: War, flight, trauma and the courage to carry on living – life stories in a psychotherapeutic context
Inner strength and peace in times of instability
Private and pious – or public and committed? Faith and the Church in today's secular world
Pro-existence as a key theme for understanding Edith Stein: caught between being oneself and being for others
Energy for change. Theology meets Technology

Edith Stein devoted herself intensively to the study of upheaval, change and courage. We will therefore not only deal with Edith Stein's works, but rather, like her and in her spirit, ask ourselves the fundamental question of upheaval, change and courage from a biblical, theological, philosophical, anthropological and spiritual perspective

Target group

The summer academy will be held in German and is primarily aimed at students, young researchers or anyone (up to the age of 35) who has an inquisitive mind (not only in philosophy and theology). It is aimed at people under 35, but we will consider all applications (although, due to the restricted capacity, preference will be given to those in the target group)

Course aim

The course aims to develop both an academic understanding of the topic of change and also the spiritual significance of the human being and personhood

Fee info

As a contribution towards expenses for participation, we ask for a contribution of between €300 and €650, depending on your means.
