Join us this September in Ludwigsburg for the first edition of the Horizon Europe FEAST project Summer School — a dynamic four-day, hands-on learning programme retreat.
From September 1–4, 2025, participants will engage in an immersive experience that bridges food, health, and sustainability, gaining the knowledge, skills, and confidence to integrate these critical themes into classrooms across subject areas and age groups. Through expert-led sessions, collaborative workshops, and real-world applications, you'll explore interdisciplinary approaches to food systems transformation (exploring topics such as food literacy, food insecurity, behaviour change, food policy, etc.) developing practical strategies for teaching.
Whether you're preparing to teach or refining your practice, the FEAST Summer School is your opportunity to learn new information and skills and help lead the charge toward a more just, sustainable food future—starting in the classroom.
Themes across the days:
Day 1: Systems thinking, problem framing, real-world context
Day 2: Production systems, climate and spatial planning
Day 3: Built environments, behavioural influence, policy impact
Day 4: Reflection, application, curriculum integration, educational strategy
Designed for future educators, early-career teachers, students, and professionals passionate about transforming food systems education
Over the four days of the program, days will be split into informative learning sessions and interactive activities participants will:
• Explore key topics bridging food, sustainability, and health including: food literacy, food insecurity, behaviour change, food policy
• Develop strategies for integrating food systems education into diverse learning environments.
• Engage in real-world applications that enhance teaching methodologies.
• Have direct contact with experts in the fields of public health, behaviour change psychology, agriculture, health policy, etc., will be present to lead the morning sessions and share knowledge to help develop the open education resource (OER) materials.
• Prepare (and take away) OER materials which can be further tailoured to apply to your own teachings in the future. Remember: this is a starting point to contributing to greater awareness and interest to food systems transformation topics. Every small effort has a ripple effect!
